Uzbek Govn’t adopts programme of environment monitoring
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The Government of Uzbekistan adopted a programme of the State monitoring of environment in the country for 2011-2015.

Cabinet of Ministers of Uzbekistan approved a resolution “On approval of the programme on state monitoring of environment in Uzbekistan for 2011-2015” on 31 October 2011.

The document said that Uzbekistan has single system of monitoring of environment and carries out systematic complex evaluation of nature and use of natural resources to adopt effective measures to prevent and eliminate negative processes and ensure state control over environment and rational use of natural resources in Uzbekistan.

At the same time, the system of monitoring fails to provide modern analytical tools and use of information technologies in summarizing monitoring results at the Monitoring Centers of the ministries and departments.

The programme adopted to further ensure regular assessment of current state and forecast of environment pollution.

In line with the resolution, the government issued 29.873 billion soums to implement the programme, of which 5.457 billion soums will be spent in 2011.

In particular, the State Committee of Uzbekistan on geology and mineral resources will issue 16.5 billion soums in 2011-2015, of which 3.308 billion soums will be allocated in 2011.

The center of hydrometeorology service under the Cabinet of Ministers will invest 7.782 billion to the programme (1.045 illion soums in 2011), Ministry of Healthcare of Uzbekistan – 3.302 billion soums (660.57 million soums in 2011), State Committee of land resources, geodesy, cartography and cadastre – 1.26 billion soums (286 million soums).

State Committee of Uzbekistan on nature protection will spend 786.7 million soums (108.03 million soums) and Ministry of Agriculture and Water Management of Uzbekistan – 241.38 million soums (49.02 million soums).

Within the programme, it is planned to implement projects on studying objects and reviewing current system of observing sanitary- epidemiological state of water flow and reservoirs, prepare projects on monitoring of underground waters.

It is also planned to introduce ecologic indicators data base for monitoring of nature and publication of reports on environment state in Uzbekistan.
