Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 11 April 2019, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan Abdulaziz Kamilov received a delegation of the United States of America led by the Special Representative for Afghan Reconciliation Zalmay Khalilzad.
During the conversation, an exchange of views took place on the situation in Afghanistan and the promising start of the peace process in that country.
As it was emphasized, the settlement of the long-standing Afghan conflict is possible. This key provision was initiated and recorded in the text of the Tashkent Declaration on Afghanistan, adopted by consensus by the leaders of the world powers and countries in the region.
In this context, the sides considered issues relating to the Uzbek-American interaction, as well as proposals for practical participation in construction of large socio-economic facilities and in the implementation of infrastructure projects in Afghanistan, which allow for peaceful and stable development, to become organic populace, trade and economic and cultural-humanitarian space of Central Asia.
At the meeting in the Foreign Ministry, other international and regional issues were also considered.
The special representative of the President of Uzbekistan on Afghanistan Ismatulla Irgashev took part in the conversation.
