Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 27 September, a meeting was held with the participation of the Minister of Finance Timur Ishmetov and representatives of the financial company Rothschild & Co.

The meeting was also attended by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Uzbekistan to France Sardor Rustambayev, Deputy Minister of Finance Odilbek Isakov and Deputy Director of the Agency for the Development of Public-Private Partnership Nodir Nuritdinov.

The delegation headed by Baron Eric de Rothschild was attended by International Cooperation Advisor, Member of the Supervisory Board of Rothschild & Co Ariel Malar de Rothschild, Executive Director for CIS Countries Giovanni Saluvetti, Executive Director Thibault Fourcade, Executive Director for Cooperation with Financial Institutions Jill Costeruss.

At the beginning of the meeting, the contribution of Baron Erik de Rothschild to the processes of privatization and transformation on 5 continents and his high experience in this area were especially emphasized. Along with this, an exchange of views took place on reforms related to the privatization policy in Uzbekistan. In particular, the topics of transformation of state-owned enterprises and the acceleration of the process of transformation of banks were raised.

During the meeting, representatives of the delegation recognized the strategic goals of reducing poverty and improving the well-being of the population through the expansion of market mechanisms and other structural economic transformations of our country, and also touched upon the need for large investments within the framework of the economic development program, in particular in the modernization of industry, infrastructure facilities and energy projects.

It was noted that in order to facilitate and accelerate project financing in the country, there is a basis for the creation of a new state financial corporation ("Uzbek Corporation for Industrial Development of Industry" or "INDECO"), taking into account the fact that Uzbekistan must maintain a stable macroeconomic environment and ensure the long-term sustainability of public debt.
