Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 24 June, the Ambassador of Uzbekistan to Malaysia Ravshan Usmanov met with Director General of the State TV and Radio Company of Malaysia (Radio Televisyen Malaysia – RTM) Abdul Muis bin Shefii.
The State TV and Radio Company of Malaysia is the largest public TV and radio company with 36 radio and 3 TV channels.
At the meeting, the Malaysian side was informed about place, role and importance of the mass media in deepening democratic reforms and transformations in Uzbekistan, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan said.
RTM management was introduced with ongoing purposeful activities on wide promotion of tourism potential in Malaysian media. In particular, leading Malaysian TV channels show videos on trade-economic and investment potential of Uzbekistan, bilateral relations, ziyorat (pilgrimage) tourism, cultural and historical heritage of pearls of the East, Samarkand, Bukhara, Khiva and other ancient cities of Uzbekistan free of charge in prime time.
In turn, the Malaysian side announced its intention to send RTM representatives to attend the upcoming International Music Festival “Sharq taronalari” in Samarkand and International Festival of Folk Arts in Kokand on September 10-15 to widely cover planned events, as well as cultural-historical heritage of Uzbekistan.
RTM Director General also announced his readiness to establish cooperation with National TV and Radio Company of Uzbekistan in exchanging experience and training specialists within the framework of existing Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union (ABU).
Following the negotiations, agreements were reached on mutual coverage of significant events in public life of the two countries, exchange of data and airtime, including through creation of joint TV programs dedicated to culture, art and cooking, broadcasting of video materials about tourism potential of Uzbekistan on RTM channels free of charge.
