Uzbek envoy holds meeting with chairperson of Russian Federation Council
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Uzbekistan to Russia Ziyadulla Pulatkhodjaev held a meeting with the chairperson of the Council of Federation of Russia Sergey Mironov.

Chairperson of the Federation Council Sergey Mironov, welcoming the Uzbek envoy, underlined importance of bilateral relations between two countries, which is underlined by leadership of Russia and Uzbekistan as well.

Mironov said that Russia and Uzbekistan are traditionally important and reliable partners. He said that the relations between two states are developing based on trust and mutual interest. The relations are expanding and covering almost all possible directions. Today bilateral relations are based on strategic partnership and allied relations. Russian official underlined importance of inter-parliamentary dialogue.

Ziyadulla Pulatkhodjaev, in his turn, highly rated modern state of the Uzbek-Russian relations and briefed about social-economic situation in Uzbekistan.

Currently, the sides have inked many agreements, which form reliable agreement-legal base in all spheres of cooperation.

Russian holds position of the largest trade partner of Uzbekistan. Russian companies are participating in large investment projects in oil and gas sector, telecommunications, machinery, food and light industries. The sides also have strong humanitarian and cultural relations.

The sides also stated that the sides possess great potential, which should be used for implementation of large and realistic plans for further strengthening of relations.

The sides also discussed situation in the region, including in Kyrgyz Republic and Afghanistan. The sides said that it is important to coordinate cooperation and try to lift cooperation to new levels. Speaking about Afghan problem, head of Federation Council agreed with the Uzbek diplomat that international community should create conditions for Afghan population to find solution to the problem.

It was noted that Russia and Uzbekistan are for active international interactions in overcoming new threats, active cooperation with the countries of the regions, both in bilateral and within regional organizations as CIS, SCO and CSTO.
