Uzbek engineers to train in Japan for spacecraft development
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Representatives of Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Digital Technologies and professors from Kyushu Institute of Technology (Japan) held discussions on implementing a joint project aimed at training Uzbek engineers in spacecraft design and development.
Uzbekistan is actively cooperating with leading global space agencies, universities, and industry players to advance space research, integrate cutting-edge technologies, and train highly qualified specialists. The Uzbekcosmos Agency has already established educational partnerships with institutions in the U.S., UK, France, South Korea, China, Japan, Türkiye, and Azerbaijan, providing young professionals with access to specialized knowledge in engineering, astronautics, and astronomy.
Under the newly signed agreement with Kyushu Institute of Technology, seven young Uzbek engineers will undertake a two-year master’s program focusing on spacecraft design, assembly, and testing. As part of their studies, they will work alongside experienced Japanese professors to develop and launch Uzbekistan’s first scientific and technological satellite, the 6U Cubesat.
This initiative aligns with the Presidential Decree on Aerospace Technology Implementation for 2024–2026, which serves as the legal foundation for the project’s execution.
