Uzbek election body registers senators

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Central Election Commission of Uzbekistan held a session on 22 January 2010 and registered members of the Senate of Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan.

During the session, the commission reviewed results of the elections to the Senate, which held on 20-22 January 2010, and registered 84 members of the upper house of the parliament.

In line with the decree, Uzbek President Islam Karimov appointed 16 members of the Senate of Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan.

The commission also adopted a resolution on convocation of the first session of the Senate on 25-26 January 2010.
