Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 12 September 2024, the XXVII session of the Intergovernmental Council of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) on the exploration, use, and protection of mineral resources was officially opened in Cholpon-Ata.
Delegations from Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Belarus, and Armenia participated in the session.
During the event, N. Khakberdiev, Advisor to the Minister of Mining and Geology of Uzbekistan, who was serving as the Chair of the Intergovernmental Council, reported on the work accomplished and results achieved over the past period.
At the formal opening, the chairmanship of the Intergovernmental Council was transferred from Uzbekistan to the Kyrgyz side—Narynbek Satybaldiev, Deputy Minister of Natural Resources, Ecology, and Technical Supervision of Kyrgyzstan, and Director of the Kyrgyz Geological Service.
Additionally, a number of cooperation agreements were signed during the XXVII session of the Intergovernmental Council.
