Uzbek delegation participates in Sustainable Development Conference in Hamburg

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 7 October 2024, a delegation from the government of the Republic of Uzbekistan participated in the first Sustainable Development Conference in Hamburg, Germany.

This conference serves as a unifying platform for leading experts, government representatives, academia, business, civil society, and international organizations to develop solutions for contemporary challenges. Approximately 1,600 participants from over 100 countries attended the event.

The goal of the conference is to formulate specific initiatives to accelerate the implementation of the UN Sustainable Development Goals agreed upon by all countries by 2030.

During the conference, a meeting took place between Christiane Laibach, a member of the executive board of KfW Development Bank, and Jamshid Kuchkarov, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Finance of Uzbekistan.

Other attendees included Stefan Opitz, another member of the KfW executive board, Umid Obidkhodjaev, director of the Institute of Macroeconomic and Regional Studies, and other responsible officials.

During the discussions, the parties exchanged views on prospective economic growth, budget support for the upcoming years, and Uzbek-German financial cooperation in areas such as education, employment, healthcare, social protection system development, green growth promotion, and energy sector improvement.

Additionally, an agreement was signed between the government of Uzbekistan and KfW Development Bank to support the state budget within the framework of the "Social and Green Growth" program.

As a result of the negotiations, the parties agreed to further develop and strengthen mutually beneficial relationships and current cooperation in budget support.
