Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Uzbek national Khojiakbar Akbarov has been recognized as the best foreign worker in South Korea at the 2025 EPS Conference in Seoul, the Agency for External Labor Migration of Uzbekistan reported.

According to the agency, the competition aims to strengthen cooperation with countries that send labor migrants to South Korea under the Employment Permit System (EPS), facilitate the exchange of experience, and promote sustainable development in the field of labor migration.

The event was organized by the Human Resources Development Service of Korea. Akbarov received the honorary award from South Korea’s Minister of Labor, Kim Young-hoon.

Since 2023, Khojiakbar Akbarov has been employed as a welder at HD Hyundai Samho, with his placement arranged through Uzbekistan’s Agency for External Labor Migration.

As of the end of June 2025, over 98,400 Uzbek citizens reside in South Korea, making the Uzbek diaspora the fifth largest foreign community in the country.
