Uzbek cinema week takes place in Azerbaijan

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) - The Nizami Cinema Center in Baku hosted a grand opening of the Uzbek Film Week in Azerbaijan, Trend Life reports.

The week of Uzbek cinema is held in Azerbaijan on 17-24 November with the organization of the Ministry of Culture of Azerbaijan and the Uzbekkino agency. Events within the framework of the Film Week will be held in Baku, Sheki, Ismayilli and Gabala.

Speaking at the opening of the Film Week, the First Deputy Minister of Culture of Azerbaijan Vagif Aliyev noted that the holding of events such as the Film Week provide an opportunity to get acquainted with the culture of the country, contribute to the establishment, strengthening and development of ties in the field of culture and art.

It was noted that in Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan the state pays great attention to the development of the cinema industry.

The Ambassador of Uzbekistan to Azerbaijan Sherzod Fayziev in his speech emphasized that the Week of Uzbek cinema is a very important cultural event.

“10 films are planned to be shown within the framework of the Film Week. These are very interesting films, of which six are feature films and four are documentary films. Among them are films of the historical and dramatic genre, singing love, patriotism, fidelity. One animated film created by based on Uzbek folk tales.

The Ambassador of Uzbekistan to Azerbaijan noted that the Film Week is not only an acquaintance with the work of filmmakers, but also an important platform for dialogue with the audience.

It was emphasized that the modern film industry in Uzbekistan is developing extremely dynamically. Thanks to the conditions created in the country, more than 80 films are produced annually. Many films become participants and winners of international film festivals.

The diplomat expressed confidence that the Week of Uzbek Cinema in Azerbaijan, as well as the past, in September of this year, the Days of Azerbaijani Cinema in Uzbekistan will further strengthen our close and fraternal peoples.

Next, the deputy director of the Uzbekkino agency, professor Shukhratullo Rizaev, film expert, Uzbekkino employee Barno Ungboeva, honored artist of Uzbekistan, film director Abdukhalil Mignarov, USSR State Prize laureate, director Shukhrat Makhmudov, producer, member of the Association of Turkic Journalists, were invited to the stage. Abdullaev, Honored Artist of Uzbekistan, actress Rano Shodieva, screenwriter Roza Merkinbaeva and actress Zarina Ergasheva, who expressed appreciation for the warm welcome and hospitality.

The week of Uzbek cinema opened with the screening of the film "Imu Abu Iso Muhammad Termizi" directed by Abdukhalil Mignarov.
