Rustamov’s election agent told the meeting about the candidate’s election programme, Uzbek National News Agency (UzA) website reported.

The programme notes that the large-scale reforms being carried out in our country are producing significant results. The country’s economy is increasingly developing, and the well-being of the people is improving. The pension system has been improved, and pensions, welfare payments and people’s real incomes are consistently increasing.

At the meeting, candidate Rustamov made a speech.

Some participants commented the programme of Rustamov and noted that the holding of the election of the president of Uzbekistan on a multi-party and alternative basis showed that a law-based democratic state had been created in the country, and that the electoral system was in full compliance with the universally recognized international norms.

They called on voters to actively participate in the presidential election, scheduled for 23 December 2007.
