Uzbek Boxer Lazizbek Mullodjonov Temporarily Suspended After Positive Doping Test

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Prohibited substances have been detected in the body of Uzbek boxer Lazizbek Mullodjonov, according to the International Anti-Doping Agency.

Official data show that a sample collected from the athlete on 11 June 2025, during an out-of-competition doping control, tested positive for metabolites of methasterone. This substance belongs to the group of steroids and is included in the WADA Prohibited List. Methasterone is banned at all times—both in and out of competition—with no exemptions for use.

Mullodjonov was officially notified of the test results and granted the right to request an analysis of his B sample. If the analysis confirms the presence of the banned substance, a violation of anti-doping rules will be considered established. Refusal to conduct a B sample analysis is also treated as an admission of the violation. The athlete has been given the opportunity to provide his comments regarding the results.

At present, Mullodjonov has been provisionally suspended from competitions. He has the right to appeal the decision and request its annulment.

Since the anti-doping program of World Boxing has been delegated to the International Testing Agency (ITA), further proceedings in the case will be handled under its jurisdiction.
