Uzbek banks attracted US$1.2 billion from abroad in 1Q — President
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — In the first quarter of 2025, Uzbekistan’s banks attracted US$1.2 billion in resources from abroad, with more than half of this amount coming from the four largest banks. During a meeting chaired by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, it was emphasized that other banks should also intensify their efforts to attract foreign financing.
It was particularly highlighted that the majority of these funds are being directed toward projects in the Andijan and Tashkent regions, as well as the city of Tashkent, where active work with entrepreneurs is ongoing.
"Why are other khokims not preparing quality projects and not utilizing the funds already attracted?" President Mirziyoyev asked.
From now on, banks will inform the khokims about the resources attracted from abroad, their terms, and repayment deadlines. In turn, the khokims are required to collect ready business projects from entrepreneurs and pass them on to the banks.
At the end of the meeting, the head of state once again warned all responsible parties:
"Every minute must be valued, and work must be structured at the level of the set high goals," emphasized the President.
