Uzbek atlas and adras become part of world cultural heritage

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Ancient technology for making satin and adras from silk fabrics of Uzbekistan is included in the list of UNESCO best practices for safeguarding the intangible cultural heritage.

The historical center of these fabrics is the city of Margilan, located in Ferghana Valley. During a visit to Ferghana, a working group consisting of representatives of the State Committee for Tourism Development and its regional branch visited places where world-famous national fabrics - atlas and adras - are hand-made.

It should be noted that tourists visiting Ferghana region, in most cases are interested in buying satin or adras, it is no less interesting for them to learn about the technique of making these ancient fabrics.

In this regard, many local and foreign tourists visit Margilan. In order to ensure the safe movement of tourists throughout the valley, the Working Group carried out outreach on strict compliance with local sanitary rules. At the same time, tips and tricks were given on how to provide tourists with safer and better services.

Atlas and adras producers shared their plans for the future and agreed with the Working Group on the implementation of projects. In particular, some entrepreneurs engaged in the creation of national fabrics announced their intention to create family guest houses in order to provide the most comfortable conditions for tourists visiting Margilan and received answers to their questions.

“Margilan atlas and adras are ordered not only from the regions of Uzbekistan, but also from all over the world. For example, today we received orders from Germany and Latvia. In addition, there are regular orders from all regions of the country.

We are currently working on a family-run guest house to create more amenities for tourists who come to Margilan. We plan to start the guest house in the coming days. This will not only create convenience for tourists, but also serve the employment of the local population, including our women, ”said entrepreneur Fazliddin Dadajanov.
