Uzbek and British parliaments to sign cooperation memorandum
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Parliaments of Uzbekistan and Great Britain are planning to sign memorandum of understanding and cooperation in near future.

Chairperson of All-Party Group Britain-Uzbekistan of the British Parliament Lord John Waverley said that the memorandum will be signed in near future in Tashkent, capital of Uzbekistan.

John Waverley the memorandum will boost inter-parliamentary cooperation between two countries, Uzbekistan Foreign Ministry said on its website.

“We are waiting impatiently for mutual beneficial cooperation with the colleagues in Uzbekistan as it will be beneficial for Uzbekistan, whole region and for us as well,” he said.

“We acknowledged achievements in economy, role of Uzbekistan in Afghan problem, which is real test for you and us in West. Your contribution to this is important and we will be happy to work with you,” Lord Waverley said.

John Waverley, underlining economic achievement of Uzbekistan, expressed his view on perspectives of trade and investment of cooperation between Uzbekistan and Great Britain with the assistance of the Uzbek-British Council on trade and industry.

He said that it is expected that partnership with more organizations in Britain will be established. He added that the parliament will assist in creating legislative base and other opportunities for expanding trade-economic and investment cooperation between two states. “We are open and ready to work with our Uzbek colleagues for strengthening of bilateral relations,” he underlined.
