Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The truck trailer manufacturer UzAuto Trailer is considering localizing the production of semi-trailers in Russia, according to reports from Kommersant.
As reported, UzAuto Trailer has acquired a 99% stake in LLC "Ruato Trailer," a company established in the Vladimir region of Russia this summer for the production of truck bodies, trailers, and semi-trailers. The remaining 1% belongs to LLC SSK Lyudmila Treistman, which also owns LLC "SpetsAutoKam," a company specializing in producing special equipment based on KamAZ chassis in Tatarstan.
Sources of Kommersant shared that from January to July 2024, the production of trailers and semi-trailers increased by 22.5% compared to the previous year, reaching 11.9 thousand units. Domestic market shipments grew by 9.8%, totaling 11.2 thousand units, while imports surged 2.5 times to 10.3 thousand units.
However, some segments are experiencing a decline in sales and fewer orders. Experts attribute this drop in demand to the growing number of suppliers entering the market, following last year’s shortage of semi-trailers.
