US may move troops from Afghanistan to Central Asia

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) - The United States may transfer troops from Afghanistan to Central Asia, writes WSJ, citing sources.

The United States are withdrawing its troops from Afghanistan.

RIA Novosti reported the redeployment of troops to Central Asia will allow the United States to support the Afghan authorities and deter the militants.

The WSJ writes that the base will house drones and aircraft. Among the options, the military and administration officials name Uzbekistan and Tajikistan, or the countries of the Persian Gulf.

The Ministry of Defense of Uzbekistan reacted to the publication in the American press about the possible redeployment of the US military.

The defense doctrine of Uzbekistan does not provide for the deployment of foreign military bases in the country, the press service of the Ministry of Defense told RIA Novosti.
