This is the second visit to Uzbekistan for Congressman Faleomavaega, who had the opportunity to meet with Deputy Prime Minister Shaismatov and Foreign Minister Vladimir Norov.

Congressman Faleomavaega, of American Samoa, is the Chairman on the Foreign Affairs Subcommittee on Asia, the Pacific, and the Global Environment in the US House of Representatives with oversight responsibility for a large number of countries in the Asian region, including those of Central Asia.

Congressman Faleomavaega is the first member of either chamber of the US Congress to visit Uzbekistan in four years.
