US Ambassador Meets with Uzbekistan’s Pharmaceutical Development Agency
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 16 July 2025, Director of the Agency for the Development of the Pharmaceutical Industry of Uzbekistan, Abdulla Azizov, held a meeting with the U.S. Ambassador to Uzbekistan, Jonathan Henick.
During the meeting, the head of the Agency provided a detailed overview of the current state of Uzbekistan’s pharmaceutical market, its export potential, and the projects underway within the framework of the innovative scientific-industrial cluster Tashkent Pharma Park. The discussion covered infrastructure development, the introduction of international regulatory standards, establishment of R&D centers, biotech companies, a genomics center, and conditions for conducting clinical trials.
Ambassador Henick, in turn, noted the growing interest of American companies and research institutions in collaborating with Uzbekistan. The sides discussed the prospects of academic and scientific partnerships with U.S. universities and research institutes, the organization of training programs and information exchange on FDA procedures, as well as expanding cooperation in clinical trials and technology transfer.
Special attention was given to strengthening partnerships under programs such as Fulbright, Faculty Enrichment, IVLP, and other initiatives aimed at supporting researchers through grants and knowledge exchange.
Following the meeting, both parties agreed to establish a regular dialogue and continue information-sharing in the mentioned areas.
