UNFPA presents State of World Population Report in Uzbekistan
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) in Uzbekistan presented the State of World Population Report 2009 on 14 December.

UNFPA’s State of World Population report has been published annually since 1978. Each year, the report focuses on questions of current interest and concern for the future.

The 2009 State of World Population report is called "Facing a Changing World: Women, Population and Climate". This report calls attention to women and vulnerable populations in the response to climate change.

It points out that climate change is not just about technology. It is a human problem brought about by human activity. People are affected by climate change. People need to adapt to it. And only people can stop it.

During the past half century, rapid population growth and industrialization have led to a rapid rise in greenhouse gas emissions. We have now reached a point where humanity is approaching the brink of disaster.

The report discusses the issues of migration caused by climate change and provides recommendations on women empowerment for combating the climate change.

In addition to the main report, UNFPA launched a special youth supplement that explores the environmental issues through the eyes of new generation.
