The manual had several principles and recommendations on development of strategy and procedures for collection of library and archives, taking into account preparation master plans, which envisages mandatory regular protection of each document from various damages, as well as hand over these documents as heritage to next generations.

The manual is published to help create a preservation programme and assist to develop regional and national strategies, as well as practices on preserving manuscripts.

Antonio Mirabile (Italy) is the author of the book. He is international expert of UNESCO on preservation of manuscripts.

The presentation of the book will be held on 5 April 2012 at the Oriental Institute named after Al Beruni.
