This meeting is organized within the framework of the UNESCO Office in Uzbekistan programm on preservation of tangible cultural heritage, Coordinating Committee to support the documentation standards and procedures for the serial and transnational World Heritage nomination of the Silk Road in Central Asia.
The meeting will discuss the results of activities previously approved by experts at the meeting in Ashgabat (Turkmenistan) in May 2011 and the Plan of Action adopted at the meeting in Tashkent in September 2011.
The meeting will be attended by experts from Central Asian countries, China and UNESCO to discuss a range of issues and develop common positions to establish and discuss the general structure of the serial World Heritage nomination of the Silk Road, reflecting the new guidance on transboundary serial nomination made at the international expert meeting in Ittigene, Switzerland in 2010, track the progress of implementation of decisions taken at the Ashgabat meeting in May 2011 and 3-year Plan of Action adopted at the meeting in Tashkent in September 2011 and strengthen the technical capacity through appointment of the National Project Managers across the state bodies of the participating countries.
