UN: Uzbekistan’s GDP to grow by 5.9% in 2025

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The real gross domestic product (GDP) of Uzbekistan is expected to grow by 5.9% in 2025, according to the United Nations report "World Economic Situation and Prospects 2025" (WESP 2025).

The report forecasts economic growth of 5.4% for Uzbekistan in 2026, while the GDP growth for 2024 is recorded at 6.1%.

Tourism has become a key driver of economic growth in Uzbekistan, as highlighted by UN experts.

The report also indicates that inflation in Uzbekistan will decrease from 9% in 2024 to 7.4% in 2025, with a forecast of 5.2% in 2026.

On a global scale, world trade growth is expected to reach 3.2% in 2025, following a 3.4% increase in 2024. This will contribute to the growth of industrial goods exports from Asia and active services trade. However, risks such as trade tensions, protectionist policies, and geopolitical uncertainty could affect these projections.

Global inflation is predicted to decrease from 4% in 2024 to 3.4% in 2025, which will have a positive impact on households and businesses. At the same time, major central banks are likely to continue lowering interest rates in 2025 as inflationary pressures ease.

Despite the overall trend of decreasing inflation, it will remain higher than average in several developing countries, with inflation in one in five of these nations expected to be in double digits in 2025.
