UN Secretary-General starts his first visit to Central Asia
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) --
UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon starts his first trip to Central Asian region on 1 April. The trip will last till 7 April 2010.
During his visit, the UN chief plans to discuss disarmament and non-proliferation, problems of climate change, adherence to human rights and regional cooperation with the leaders of the Central Asian states.
The sides will also consider issues of water use and efforts of the Central Asian states in achievement of the Millennium Development Goals.
Ban ki-moon will pay a visit to Turkmenistan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan and Kazakhstan during his trip to the region.
