According to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), the project passed full inspection and registered by the body.
Uzbekneftegaz national holding company said that the project is implemented in partnership with the UNDP Carbon Fund.
Within the project, it is planned to introduce and use advanced materials, innovative technologies and equipment at 22 compressor stations, which will significantly decrease leakage of natural gas and greenhouse emissions to atmosphere.
This is the tenth project of Uzbekistan, which was registered by the UNFCCC. Total planned emission reductions on nine previous projects makes up about 2,686 million tonnes of CO2-equivallent a year.
