Viktor Yuschenko sent congratulation letter to his Uzbek counterpart, Ukrainian President’s official website reported.

“Take my most sincere congratulations on occasion of your election for the top public post - President of the Republic of Uzbekistan,” the congratulation reads.

Ukrainian president also said he is sure that realization of the Ukrainian-Uzbek agreements will help filling mutually beneficial cooperation between Ukraine and Uzbekistan with real content.

Yuschenko wished Islam Karimov a strong health, welfare, happiness and new achievements for the prosperity of the Uzbek people.

The Central Election Commission of Uzbekistan announced that incumbent President Islam Karimov won presidential elections on 23 December. Islam Karimov collected 88.1% votes.
