Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The Uzbekistan Football Association published an official statement regarding the start of work at the Lokomotiv football club of the former head coach of the national team of Uzbekistan Samvel Babayan.

Samvel Babayan was dismissed after the national team of Uzbekistan could not qualify for the 2018 World Cup. Later, UFA received more than ten thousand letters with complaints about Samvel Babayan through the portal of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan. According to this, on January 15, 2018, the Uzbekistan Football Association opened a case against Samvel Babayan, and the bureau of the UFA Executive Committee decided to remove the specialist from football.

In the course of studying this case, it was established that Samvel Babayan used the national team of Uzbekistan in his personal interests. Only for this reason it was already possible to close the doors of the team for him forever. However, later, Bunyodkor FC turned to the UFA Executive Committee with a request to remove the disqualification from the former coach of the national team of Uzbekistan under the personal guarantee of the club.

“Bunyodkor, under personal responsibility, asks for the easing of disciplinary sanctions against Samvel Babayan. It is necessary to take into account the fact that the head of our state repeatedly issued decrees on pardon to people, who were accused of serious crimes, but deeply repented of their deeds and firmly embarked on the path of correction. We believe that it is necessary to lend a helping hand to those who are guilty, but are willing to work to atone for their guilt, guided by the principle of humanism,” the statement said.

The members of the UFA Executive Committee unanimously supported this appeal. Thus, the work of the Executive Committee of the UFA completed its work on the Babayan case on February 1, 2018, and the disqualification of the specialist was canceled.

When Samvel Babayan worked in the national team of Uzbekistan, many mistakes were made. UFA made the appropriate conclusions and tried to eliminate the shortcomings. In this regard, UFA decided to appoint foreign specialist as the head coach of the national team of Uzbekistan.

In the future, the UFA will never allow Samvel Babayan to work in any national team of the country. In addition, the UFA has no complaints about the decision of Lokomotiv to hire Samvel Babayan to work in his club.
