Two days of mourning declared in Armenia in connection with the explosion in the Yerevan shopping center

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- In Armenia, 17 and 18 August have been declared days of mourning after the explosion in the Surmalu shopping center in Yerevan.

It is noted that, according to updated information from the Armenian Ministry of Emergency Situations, 16 people died due to the explosion, the identity of one person has not yet been established. Three people are considered missing. 62 victims were hospitalized, seven of them remain in the hospital.

The localization of the fire in the shopping center "Surmalu" lasted more than two days.

On the fact of the explosion, a criminal case was initiated under articles on violation of the rules for storing flammable substances, which negligently caused the death of a person, and on violation of fire safety rules.

On 14 August, an explosion occurred in the Surmalu shopping center in Yerevan. A fire in a pyrotechnics warehouse was cited as a possible cause. The head of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Armenia, Armen Pambukhchyan, ruled out the possibility of a terrorist attack.
