Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — In August of this year, the regional office of the Antimonopoly Committee of Samarkand conducted an inspection based on a request from Mars, Incorporated (USA).
The inspection revealed that two local companies—AGRO BRAVO and SAM KOMILJON FAYZ —were using trademarks and names owned by Mars, Incorporated, such as MARS, SNICKERS, DOVE, as well as similar designations for their products (ice cream). This led to unfair competition.
These actions were found to be in violation of Article 21 of the Republic of Uzbekistan’s Law "On Competition" (engaging in unfair competition against competitors by economic entities or other persons in their interests).
As a result of the inspection, the Special Commission of the regional office initiated cases against the companies for violations of antimonopoly legislation. Financial penalties were imposed on LLC AGRO BRAVO and LLC SAM KOMILJON FAYZ.
Additionally, mandatory orders were issued to cease the violations of the law and prevent similar occurrences in the future.
