Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 30 November 2020, speaking following a meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers, President of the Republic of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan informed the public about tightening measures to combat the spread of a new type of coronavirus (COVID-19).

The new restrictions due to the pandemic will come into effect at 21:00 on 1 December 2020.

In particular, a decision was made to introduce the following additional restrictive measures:

- On weekdays from 21:00 until 5:00 a curfew has been set. 

- On weekends starting from Friday evening (21:00) and until Monday morning (5:00), people also cannot be on the street.

- A maximum of 30 people can attend funerals and weddings.

- All government agencies will work on weekdays only from 10:00 until 16:00

- Citizens over 65 years old and under 20 years old will not be able to use public transport. They can be outdoors on weekdays from 10:00 to 13:00, with the exception of Friday. Visiting Friday prayers is allowed. Outside of curfew on weekdays, children and pensioners can move around the city by private transport from 5:00 until 21:00.

- It is forbidden to receive guests, arrange Movlids, parties, celebrations, including the New Year.

- Grocery, butcher, fruit and vegetable stalls, as well as other home delivery stores will be able to continue working on weekends.

- Cinemas will be closed until the end of the year. Saunas, hammams and amusement parks will also be closed.

- The use of playgrounds and sports grounds is prohibited. All sporting events in the country will continue to be held without spectators.

- It will be possible to enter shopping centers only with a special code obtained through the electronic application of the Turkish Ministry of Health (HES code).

- All kindergartens, preparatory classes and other children's educational institutions will be closed. For schoolchildren and students, distance learning is being extended until the end of 2020.

- Hospitals, firefighters, police and pharmacies will operate daily, without restrictions.

Home delivery shops, cafes and restaurants will also continue to operate during curfew.

- If a person has a plane or train ticket in his hand, he can use personal or public transport to get to the airport or train station.

- In order to use public transport, enter a shopping center, hospital, government offices, you will need a HES code. This applies to both Turkish citizens and those who have a residence permit (ikamet).

- The regime of constant wearing of face masks, the rules of social distance and antiviral hygiene, as well as the ban on smoking cigarettes on the street remain in force.

Taking into account the difficult epidemiological situation in the host country, the consular section of the Embassy and the Consulate General of Uzbekistan in Istanbul has begun accepting documents, including via postal channels, as well as providing advice via e-mail (consular section of the Embassy - uzconsul.ankara@gmail. com, Consulate General - uzbekconsul@yahoo.com). This method is designed to significantly reduce the risk of COVID-19 infection for citizens of Uzbekistan, excluding their presence in crowded places and public transport.

In connection with the above, the Embassy and the Consulate General call on citizens of Uzbekistan who are temporarily staying, studying, working and permanently residing in Turkey, or planning to travel to this country, to take into account these restrictive measures, to take care of their health, to comply with all the requirements of the Republic of Turkey to protect the population from the spread of the coronavirus.
