Fintur Holding, the leading mobile communications company Turkcell and TeliaSonera’s joint venture, will invest US$152 million in Uzbekistan ’s GSM sector in 2007-2008.

In a press conference general manager of Coscom, Bora Baysal, said that Coscom will make investment to expand operations and upgrade GSM network in Uzbekistan.

Fintur acquired 99.97% shares in Coscom, the third largest operator in Uzbekistan, last July. Baysal said that Coscom recently held technology procurement tender and Nokia Siemens Networks won it. Under the investment project, Coscom will increase the number of base stations to 1,200 nationwide by the end of the first half of 2008.
