Traffic police may lose the right to impose on-the-spot fines for traffic violations

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Changes to the legislation in Uzbekistan may strip traffic police officers of their authority to impose on-the-spot fines for traffic violations. This information was reported by the press service of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis.

On 10 September, a meeting of the Senate Committee on Defense and Security was held to discuss the draft law "On Amendments and Additions to the Code of Administrative Responsibility."

The proposed law introduces a new provision regarding the operational notification of citizens and measures for violations recorded by photo and video equipment.

Under the new legislation, information about traffic violations must be submitted to the Road Safety Service within 48 hours; otherwise, the driver cannot be held administratively accountable.

The law also proposes the abolition of the requirement to present documents confirming the official duties of emergency medical and fire-rescue vehicles.

Administrative responsibility will be introduced for violations committed using scooters and other individual transportation devices, including the management of scooters, mopeds, bicycles, and carts, as well as for transporting people by such vehicles.

Additionally, the law abolishes the right of traffic police officers to impose on-the-spot fines for traffic violations while performing their official duties.
