Tourist flow from Israel to increase significantly

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The State Committee for the Development of Tourism of Uzbekistan was visited by the Ambassador of Israel in Uzbekistan Eddie Shapira, and the Ambassador of Tourism of Uzbekistan in Israel, Hay Davidov, to discuss promotion of the country’s tourism potential.

On 10 October, at the meeting, the parties discussed the possibilities for increasing the tourist flow, as well as planned events for 2019. The Israeli side gave a detailed account of the activities, which were carried out to increase the tourist flow from Israel, including successful cases of increasing the tourist flow to Azerbaijan and Georgia.

Separately, Hay Davidov offered to make short videos and a feature film about Uzbekistan with the joint work of Uzbek and Israeli filmmakers. It is also planned to have several outdoor events in various cities of Israel in order to popularize tourism in Uzbekistan.

Hay Davidov, who is from Uzbekistan, was appointed the first Ambassador of Tourism of Uzbekistan to Israel. He is also the founder of the Bukhara Handa-Handa (Laughter-Laughter) theater in Israel.

In nine months of 2017, 2,995 tourists from Israel visited Uzbekistan, while the figure reached 7,586 people in the same period of 2018. This is due to the opening of a visa-free regime for Israeli citizens for a period of up to 30 days from February 10, 2018.
