Tour operators of Uzbekistan to receive state support

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Resolution of the President "On measures to further accelerate reforms and effectively organize the public administration system in the field of tourism" was adopted.

To increase the tourist flow and provide additional state support to tour operators, starting from 1 January 2024, incentive subsidies are paid from US$20 to US$100 in equivalent for each tourist attracted by tour operators to Uzbekistan from foreign countries with a low level of tourist flow. Funds are allocated from the State budget and the Tourism Support Fund.

The Ministry of Ecology, Environmental Protection and Climate Change will approve the list of foreign countries with a low level of tourist flow, the number of tourists to be attracted, the amount and procedure for providing incentive subsidies.

Part of the expenses of tour operators and air carriers for the organization of charter flights from foreign countries to the international airports "Samarkand", "Bukhara" and "Urgench" will also be compensated.

From 1 January 2024, a system will be introduced to compensate part of the expenses of investors for construction (with the exception of reconstruction) and equipping a new hotel with a height of at least 5 floors, provided that it is put into operation before 31 December 2026. The hotel must have a three-star category and at least 60 rooms, or a four- or five-star category and at least 120 rooms.

The construction and equipment of a new hotel is compensated at the expense of the State budget (for each room):

three-star - 40 million soums;

four- or five-star - 65 million soums.

For new hotels being built in regions (cities) of the republic where there are no hotels, the above expenses are compensated with an increase of 50%:

the first two hotels with a category of 4 or 5 stars;

the first three hotels with a 3-star category.

The document also provides for partial financing until December 31, 2026 of the royalty costs of organizations - residents of Uzbekistan, using well-known and prestigious hotel brands of the world, within three years from the date of entry into force of the franchise agreement in the following amounts (in the equivalent per year for each room):

three-star hotels - US$200;

four-star - US$400;

five-star - US$600.

The off-budget tourism support fund and the Safe Tourism Fund under the Ministry of Culture and Tourism are transferred to the Tourism Committee.

From 1 September 2023, the following availability requirements will be lifted:

from travel agents of the website in at least two foreign languages, providing services of electronic payments, booking;

from the tour operators of the website for the provision of electronic payment services.

The document approved:

"Roadmap" for the further development of the tourism sector and the transformation of the system;

List of large investment projects implemented in the Republic of Karakalpakstan, regions and Tashkent in the direction of tourism.
