The top seed needed just over an hour to see off his Uzbek opponent and set up a clash against Kristof Vliegen in the next round.
Tsonga managed two breaks of serve in a one-sided opening set before finding life a little tougher in the second. However, he still managed to come out on top, winning 25 of 28 first-serve points in the contest.
"I’m in my second successive quarter-finals, which is good, but it is not enough for me," he said afterwards.
"I need to win two of these sort of tournaments to get back into the top 10. It was good for the next round, which will be tough because Kristof is a very good player."
