Tokyo Olympic Games allocate 200bn yens

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The Organizing Committee of the Tokyo Olympic Games, which was postponed to 2021 due to the pandemic, decided to allocate an additional 200 billion yen (US$1.9 billion) for expenses related to the preparation and Games.

It is noted that the additional funds will go, in particular, to cover compensation under contracts with landlords, hired workers and refund money for tickets to those people who want to return them.

In early October, the organizing committee announced that it plans to save about 30 billion yen (US$284 million) on the Games. This is supposed to be done, in particular, by reducing the presence of officials from foreign delegations and the International Olympic Committee (IOC) at the Games by 10-15%. It is also expected to reduce costs through more economical lighting of sports facilities.

Japan has already spent more than US$13 billion on preparations for the Games
