Tokyo 2020: officials discuss preparation to Olympic Games

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Today, a video conference was held on strengthening preparations for the Olympic and Paralympic Games Tokyo 2020 under the leadership of the Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Minister of Tourism and Sports Aziz Abdukhakimov.

The event was also attended by the leadership of the NOC, headed by Rustam Shaabdurakhmanov, representatives of the Ministry of Tourism and Sports, officials of federations and associations in Olympic sports.

Aziz Abdukhakimov noted in his speech that now, it is necessary to pay more attention to athletes and take the preparation process under strict control.

“Representatives of federations and associations should be in touch with the athlete's family and study his marital status. There shouldn't be any problems in their family now. The Cabinet of Ministers is ready to provide support in this regard. Athletes should feel cared for and morally supported by the state. Before demanding results from them, we need to give them due attention. The most important thing for us now is to solve all the problems of the athletes. Also, our para-athletes need a special approach,” Aziz Abdukhakimov said.

Then Rustam Shaabdurakhmanov expressed his opinion on the plans to prepare for the upcoming Games.

“Together with the Ministry of Tourism and Sports and the federations, a set of measures has been developed before leaving for Tokyo. Especially as part of the training, an individual plan is created for each athlete. Our representatives come to the licensed competition, in which Uzbek athletes participate and support them. All issues have already been resolved by the government. We work according to the jointly developed plans,” said the chairman of the NOC.

During the video conference, appropriate instructions were given to protect our athletes from coronavirus infection and prohibited drugs, strictly observe quarantine requirements during the trip, prepare a series of programs about our licensees in order to make them famous, while not interfering with their training.

The responsible persons also exchanged views on the preparations for the upcoming International Olympic Day and through the organization of this event at a high level to assist in strengthening the popularization of mass sports.
