Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- From 15 April to 3 May, Qatar will host the AFC U-23 Asian Cup, where a quota for participation in the Summer Olympic Games in Paris 2024 will be played out.

Today, before the start of the tournament, a press conference was held dedicated to the preparation of the national team of Uzbekistan in the tournament. The event was attended by the first deputy chairman of the National Olympic Committee, the first vice-president of the Uzbekistan Football Association Ravshan Irmatov and the head coach of the Uzbekistan Olympic team Timur Kapadze, who gave comprehensive answers to questions from media representatives.

At the conference, Ravshan Irmatov noted the importance of the Asian Cup for Uzbek football, and also spoke about the work done over three years on the way to the Olympic quota, which is expected by millions of fans. He also mentioned the project of the Olympic football club and the center under construction for national teams, which meets modern requirements.

Ravshan Irmatov especially emphasized the topic of foreign players and reported on positive agreements with two foreign clubs where our players play, and negotiations are also ongoing with three other clubs.

In turn, Timur Kapadze noted that enormous preparations are being made for the upcoming tournament and all the necessary conditions have been created. He emphasized that only those players who have reached the peak of their athletic form will be included in the final team, and that the guys will use all their chances on the way to a quota for the Paris 2024 Olympics.

In conclusion, Kapadze added that the main goal is not only to win a quota for the Summer Olympic Games, but also to take a prize place at the main competitions of the four years.
