Thermal Power Stations JSC reports 2024 results: Increased energy production and large-scale investments

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Thermal Power Stations JSC (TPS), which supplies 70% of the country's electricity, has published its operational results for 2024. The company exceeded planned targets, introduced new capacities, and strengthened corporate governance.

In 2024, TPS generated 32 billion kWh of electricity—3 billion kWh more than planned. Production targets were met at 110%, confirming the stability of Uzbekistan’s energy system.

As part of its investment programs, TPS allocated $646.14 million, achieving 104.7% of the planned volume. Key projects of the year included:

The construction of a 1,065 MW combined-cycle gas turbine (CCGT) unit at the Talimarjan power plant, set for commissioning in late 2025.

The launch of two 64 MW units at the Tashkent CHP plant.

The start of construction for a 650 MW CCGT unit at the Navoi power plant and a 100 MW gas-piston power plant in Tashkent’s Yunusabad district.

The overhaul of 53 energy units, increasing capacity by 291 MW ahead of the winter season.

Additionally, a cogeneration unit was built in the Shon-Shukhrat mahalla (Almazar district), featuring 1.2 MW of power generation and two Bosch boilers. This project will reduce heat losses by 90%, save 0.7 million cubic meters of gas per year, and provide an additional 8 million kWh of electricity. A similar project was launched in the Uzgarish mahalla (Sergeli district).

TPS also achieved significant advancements in certification and corporate governance. The company obtained six prestigious ISO certificates, including ISO 50001 (energy management), ISO 14001 (environmental safety), and ISO 37001 (anti-corruption management). Fitch Ratings confirmed TPS’s credit rating at "BB-" (Stable), aligning with Uzbekistan’s sovereign rating.

In 2024, 5,068 employees underwent training, while 88 specialists advanced their qualifications abroad in Russia, China, Japan, and other countries. The company’s leadership completed a corporate governance course at the Higher School of Business under the Cabinet of Ministers.

Thermal Power Stations JSC continues to strengthen its position as Uzbekistan’s energy sector leader, combining production growth, innovation, and social responsibility.
