The winners of the first TOMCHI contest announced

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- A solemn ceremony of awarding the winners of the first republican competition of the TOMCHI mobile application was held at the Tashkent Institute of Irrigation and Agricultural Mechanization Engineers, which was a part of campaign directed at improving awareness of the general public on water-saving technologies.

The competition was announced at the end of November 2018, and organized by the National Project on Water Resources Management in Uzbekistan, which is funded by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation and implemented by the Ministry of Water Resources of the Republic of Uzbekistan. The project is also a developer of the mobile application TOMCHI.

Mobile application TOMCHI (Drop) provides users with information about modern water-saving technologies, both traditional and innovative. It contains information on drip irrigation, sprinkler irrigation, and using film or hydrogel, etc. There is information on the prices of these technologies in local markets, and, very importantly, on manufacturers, as well as many other useful information. .

Among the applicants for the prizes were farmers, representatives of dekhkan farms and owners of household plots, as well as employees of state water organizations and Water Users Associations (WUAs). The geography of the contestants covered the whole country, so the winners were determined for each region of Uzbekistan, including the Republic of Karakalpakstan.

Under the terms of the contest, participants had to download the TOMCHI mobile app during the specified period of time and, in advance, register.

26 winners were identified - one winner from each region of Uzbekistan in the following areas, 13 among farmers, dehkans and owners of household plots and 13 among workers of state water management organizations and WUAs.

All winners received a smartphone with a loaded “TOMCHI” application as a prize.
