The UNWTO Secretary-General sends a video message of congratulations to the graduates of the Silk Road International University of Tourism and Cultural Heritage

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 6 July 2022, in Samarkand, diplomas were awarded to the first graduates of the Silk Road International University of Tourism and Cultural Heritage, established on the initiative of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

In this regard, the Secretary General of the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) Zurab Pololikashvili warmly congratulated the graduates and wished them success:

“Dear students, I sincerely congratulate you on your graduation evening. The creation of the Silk Road International University of Tourism and Cultural Heritage shows how much attention the government of Uzbekistan pays to the tourism sector. Education is one of our priorities. Investing in people will help the tourism industry in Uzbekistan develop further. We need new ideas to keep the flow of tourists stable. I am sure that this university will become an important center for finding new solutions to the biggest problems we are already facing. This will help Uzbekistan build a prosperous future. Today’s youth wants a stable and peaceful world for their further development. It is important to meet their expectations and expand the range of opportunities. I believe that you, dear students, will continue to contribute to the development of your Motherland and people. Once again, I congratulate you on your graduation evening and wish you great success in your future activities,” Pololikashvili said in his congratulations.

It is important to note that this is the first congratulation of the head of the largest organization at the UNWTO level to graduates of higher educational institutions in Uzbekistan.

For information, the next General Assembly of the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) will be held in 2023 in Samarkand. This was announced last year at the 24th session of the UNWTO in Madrid. Then Uzbekistan was ahead of Portugal and Egypt in the voting.
