The Trump administration is preparing strict entry restrictions to the U.S. for citizens of 43 countries

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The administration of President Donald Trump is considering imposing severe travel restrictions on citizens of several countries.

According to The New York Times, the proposed list includes 43 countries, divided into three categories. The first group consists of 11 nations—Afghanistan, Bhutan, Cuba, Iran, Libya, North Korea, Somalia, Sudan, Syria, Venezuela, and Yemen—whose citizens would face a complete suspension of U.S. visa issuance.

The second group, which includes ten countries—Belarus, Eritrea, Haiti, Laos, Myanmar, Pakistan, Russia, Sierra Leone, South Sudan, and Turkmenistan—would face partial restrictions on obtaining tourist, student, and other types of immigration visas. Additionally, applicants from these countries would be required to undergo mandatory in-person interviews when submitting visa applications.

A further 22 countries, primarily from Africa, South America, and Southeast Asia, would be given a 60-day period to address identified deficiencies. Failure to meet the required standards could result in their inclusion in one of the two stricter categories. Key concerns that could trigger restrictions include insufficient security measures in passport issuance, the lack of traveler information-sharing with the U.S., and the sale of citizenship to individuals from banned countries, which could be used to circumvent sanctions.

According to Reuters, a U.S. official who requested anonymity stated that the list is not yet final and still requires approval from the administration, including Secretary of State Marco Rubio.

Shortly after taking office, Donald Trump signed an executive order directing the State Department to identify countries where data verification is inadequate and necessitates either partial or complete entry bans on their citizens.

It is worth noting that in early March, the U.S. Secretary of State announced a new visa restriction policy aimed at foreign officials and individuals who facilitate illegal immigration into the country.
