Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Two cases of corruption were identified in Uzbekistan, as a result of which officials were detained in Kashkadarya and Andijan regions, the press service of the State Security Service said in a statement.
In Kashkadarya region, the deputy khokim of Kukdala district was detained while receiving a bribe in the amount of 15 million soums from a private enterprise engaged in the production of film.
Deputy khokim promised the company to become a supplier of products to local farmers as part of a business support program. It is noted that he has already received 10 million soums out of the promised $5 thousand.
In the second case, in Andijan region, the head of a passenger transportation company was detained while trying to receive US$7,500 from a local resident.
He promised to establish a company in the name of the resident and help win a tender for the provision of paid services on the Eski Shahar - Altynkul route. An official from the Andijan Regional Transport Department, who was temporarily acting as chief, is also involved in this case.
Criminal cases have been initiated against the detainees.
