The second festival of mountain resorts of Eurasia to be held at the Shagdag resort

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Azerbaijan will host the second festival of mountain resorts in Eurasia. This was announced by the Secretary General of the Eurasian Mountain Resorts Alliance (EMRA) Andrey Kukushkin.

According to him, this decision was made during the first festival of mountain resorts in Eurasia, which took place from 13 to 16 March in the Rosa Khutor resort in Sochi (Russia). The festival of Eurasian mountain resorts, held for the first time at Rosa Khutor, will become traditional.

During the festival, representatives of Uzbekistan, Russia, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Armenia and Kyrgyzstan discussed the development of mountain resorts and ski tourism. They also exchanged experience and considered the implementation of uniform standards in the Alliance resorts.

Andrey Kukushkin emphasized that the members of the Alliance decided to hold the second festival of Eurasian mountain resorts in 2025 in the Shagdag resort in Azerbaijan.

At the closing ceremony of the first festival, Deputy General Director for International Relations and Tourism of the Rosa Khutor resort, Sergei Khvorostyany, handed over the festival flag to the head of the Shagdag resort, Rustam Najafov.

Rustam Najafov, noting the successful organization of the festival in Sochi, said that the Azerbaijani side will try to hold the festival even better.

Andrey Kukushkin also noted that the demonstration on the descent was very beautiful and spectacular, and that it is necessary to attract more visitors to such events. “This is a unique spectacle. Next year we need to think about attracting visitors to the resort,” added Kukushkin.

Andrey Kukushkin emphasized that it is also necessary to think about monetization of the project.

The Eurasian Mountain Resorts Alliance (EMRA) was created in June 2023.

The mountain resorts Rosa Khutor (Russia), Shymbulak (Kazakhstan) and Amirsoy (Uzbekistan) became the founders of the alliance.

The goal of the EMRA is to provide a platform for the strategic development of tourism in the Eurasian space, professional communication, promotion of best practices and brands of mountain resorts.

The Shahdag resort (Azerbaijan) joined the alliance in November 2023. During the first festival of Eurasian mountain resorts in Sochi in March 2024, the Oi-Qaragai mountain resort in Kazakhstan became a member of the alliance.

The main goals of the alliance are to promote all-season mountain tourism and popularize an active lifestyle, exchange necessary information and best practices, improve the professional qualifications of mountain workers, and develop common approaches to safety standards.

The headquarters of the alliance is located in Almaty (Kazakhstan).
