Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- An increase in the production of building materials is observed in Kazakhstan. Their production has tripled over the past 10 years (from US$420 million to US$1.3 billion). At the same time, to meet the needs of the market, which is US$2.2 billion, products worth about US$900 million are imported annually.

According to the Minister of Industry and Infrastructure Development of Kazakhstan B. Atamkulov, it is envisaged to support the development of the construction industry.

First. Creation of new projects for import substitution. So, it is planned to launch 8 import-substituting projects for the production of 5 types of building materials (glass, pipes, dry building mixtures, fittings, ceramic tiles) with a production volume of US$245 million, which will reduce the share of imports in the domestic market by an average of 15%.

Second. Launch of the Building Materials Marketplace online platform. Creation of a special information platform for online trade in Kazakhstani building materials will allow: a) to ensure transparency of the building materials market; b) carry out online monitoring of the construction progress of each facility and the disbursement of funds by akimats. According to experts, this measure will reduce the cost of materials by 15% and will provide an opportunity to sell building materials at a fixed cost.

Third. Provision of guarantees for the sale of Kazakhstani products. In particular, the necessary legal framework has been created, the requirement of which is the mandatory use of Kazakhstani building materials for projects financed from budgetary funds.

In general, it is noted that against the background of the pandemic, the construction industry can become one of the "drivers" of the Kazakhstani economy. In these conditions, the authorities intend to create the most favorable conditions for the development of the industry, which will not only reduce imports, but also increase the export of products abroad, create additional jobs.
