Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The State committee for tourism development of the Republic of Uzbekistan introduces the position of Deputy Chairman for the Development of Pilgrimage Tourism within the existing states. This is stated in the decree of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev dated February 9, 2021 "On measures for the further development of domestic and pilgrim tourism in the Republic of Uzbekistan." 

In the central structure of the Committee, a Department for the Development of Pilgrimage Tourism will be created, consisting of 9 staff units within the existing states. 

Earlier it was reported that in accordance with the Decree, a visa-free regime was introduced to citizens of a number of countries and benefits and preferences for entrepreneurs in the tourism sector were extended.
