The Parliament of Kazakhstan excludes the First President’s Day from state holidays

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Deputies of the Senate (upper house) of the Parliament of Kazakhstan adopted a law excluding the Day of the First President of the Republic from the list of public holidays.

“It is proposed to exclude the Day of the First President, 1 December, from the list of public holidays,” the Senate Committee on Social and Cultural Development and Science noted in its conclusion.

On 17 September, President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev signed constitutional amendments to rename the capital of the Republic of Nur-Sultan back to Astana. Thus, the capital of Kazakhstan officially received its former name again.
