Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 14 September, the opening ceremony of the XIV Tashkent International Film Festival "Pearl of the Silk Road" was held at the House of Cinematographer in the capital of Uzbekistan. It was revived on the initiative of the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

The event was hosted by American actor Armand Assante. As part of the opening ceremony, the address of the President of Uzbekistan to the participants of the film festival was read, and the winners of the award "For Contribution to the Development of World Cinema" were awarded.

The awards went to Armand Assante, Elyer Ishmukhamedov, Takeshi Kitano, Krzysztof Zanussi, Indian actors Umesh Mehre and Zeenat Aman.

The opening ceremony was attended by Luc Besson, Sergey Bezrukov and Burak Ozcivit.

Director of the Film Agency of Uzbekistan Firdavs Abdukhalikov officially announced the opening of the XIV Tashkent International Film Festival "Pearl of the Silk Road".
