Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The 43rd General Assembly of the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) successfully completed its work. Within the framework of the Assembly, the delegation of Uzbekistan, consisting of OCA Vice-President Otabek Umarov and NOC Secretary General Oybek Kasimov, took part in a number of official meetings and exchanged views with partners in the region on promising projects and new plans.
A few days ago, representatives of the Bornan Sports Technology, which is considered an official partner of the OCA, arrived in the capital and discussed a number of issues related to preparations for the Tashkent 2025 Summer Youth Asian Games. During the official stay of the delegation of Uzbekistan in Bangkok, a meeting was organized with the management of Bornan Sports Technology and another company, Atom Consulting Local Committee, which provides services for organizing the Games.
At the meeting, the parties exchanged views on further steps of cooperation. Representatives of these two foreign organizations noted that they would be happy to contribute to the organization of an important high-level competition in our country.
Another of these meetings took place with the Prince of Saudi Arabia, Fahad bin Jawali bin Abdulaziz Al Saud. It should be noted that within the framework of the OCA Executive Committee, held in May 2022 in Tashkent, a memorandum of cooperation was signed between the National Olympic Committees of Uzbekistan and Saudi Arabia. At today’s meeting, the issue of further strengthening this agreement was considered. The memorandum stipulated that athletes from both teams would participate in joint training camps in preparation for major competitions. In particular, the Saudi Arabian taekwondo WT team took part in a training camp in Tashkent last week.
Prince Fahad bin Jalawi bin Abdulaziz Al Saud is the head of the Saudi Arabian triathlon and camel federations. Otabek Umarov expressed that he would be glad to see the Prince of Saudi Arabia as an honored guest at the Triathlon World Cup, which will be held in Samarkand May 18-19 on. In turn, Mr. Fahad bin Jalawi bin Abdulaziz Al Saud suggested that the Vice President of the OCA begin promoting camel sports in Uzbekistan, since Bactrian camels are widespread in our country.
During the official stay of the delegation of Uzbekistan in Bangkok, meetings were also organized with representatives of the Olympic committees of the countries of Central Asia, as well as Jordan and Cambodia. During the conversation, the parties discussed strengthening friendly relations between countries through sports, as well as exchanging experiences on the latest achievements in this area.
